A different sort of hunt

Gabriel was used to being odd man out, the only Omega born to his small, powerful pack. But with two older brothers who were both Alphas, they were usually more concerned with their own power plays than Gabriel and his search for a mate.

Because heat when you were unmated? Sucked.

Michael would probably prefer to chain him up once a year and let him sweat it out, which is probably why he left home as his heat started to near.

If he was going to find a mate, it was going to be on his terms.

What he didn't expect was to catch a tantalizing scent at the local bookstore. Something that called up images of sunlight and pine trees and cool shade.

There was definitely a difference in Sam's scent now. He wasn't holding back his wolf or his Alpha-ness. His teeth had elongated before this round, already ready as he laid himself over Gabriel's back again, pressing his lips to the spot where he would claim him.

"Mmm. When we get settled, I wanna watch you ride me," he murmured, hips snapping forward. "Wanna watch you work to take my knot, wanna see your face when you're doing it." He licked over the spot, then lightly scraped his teeth over it. Not enough to break skin, but soon. Very soon.

It was more wolf this time, all strength and power and Gabriel's wolf can't help but rise up in response, keening out his pleasure as Sam mouthed along his neck, rocking into him. "Sam.. ahfuck.. yes." One hand drifted lower, stroking himself as Sam moved faster behind him. Into him.

"Gonna suck you first though. Then I'll ride you. Take that perfect knot of yours."

There's strength and power in Gabriel as well. Sam can feel it thrumming through his Omega's body. He kept thrusting, pushing into Gabriel's body, making him work to accept his knot. Somehow, this coupling seemed faster, harder than the first. Maybe because Sam wasn't holding back as much.

As soon as he felt his knot push all the way in, felt Gabriel's body accepting it and closing around it, he bit, teeth breaking skin as he growled deep in his chest.

Omegas have a different sort of strength to them, a different power. Not one built for combat or even protection, but there's power there. To raise a family, care for an Alpha and bear them up when needed. Bobby had always said that Alphas may rule a pack, but a good Omega is what keeps the Alpha together to do so. Not something to be easily dismissed.

Gabriel is also strong enough to take Sam when he's not holding back, when his fingers are bruise-tight in his hips, working his knot into him hard and fast. The moment Sam's fangs sank into his skin and he felt the blood well, Gabriel came. A combination of pain and pleasure and his wolf knowing that he's truly bound now, part of a better pack with an Alpha he loved.

It was one reason why John had made his boys read the old stories. While Mary herself had been a Beta, Kate had been an Omega and John would never have stood for any of his boys talking back to her or disrespecting her for her status. Not that any of them ever would have, but it was better to know for certain.

What Gabriel's orgasm started, Sam's sealed completely. He wasn't very far behind his mate at all, pheromones and the rhythmic squeezing of his knot sending him over the edge with a bitten off whine against the back of Gabriel's neck. He slid his arm under Gabriel, holding him up as his other arm dropped to the bed, keeping them both upright for the moment as Sam disengaged his teeth, licking lightly over the four spots along the top of his spine.

They were stories they'd one day share with their own children. Old legends that his own pack seemed to have forgotten, or in their arrogance, chosen to ignore.

Gabriel sagged into Sam's arms, his wolf sated, body pleasantly exhausted. The bites would scar over and be visible even when shifted, the mark of a mated and bound wolf. He hummed happily at the attention lavished on those fresh marks. "Mmh. Think we've got a few hours now." Plenty of time after his knot went down to shower, call Anna and get back to the heat cottage the Winchesters had.

Not just the Winchesters. His pack now.

Sam couldn't help but laugh softly at Gabriel, kissing the back of his neck again. "That's what you said last time," he reminded his mate. He carefully maneuvered them onto their sides again, a much more comfortable position for the time being.

Gabriel chuckled, pressing back against his mate as Sam shifted them to rest on their sides again, arms and legs tangled comfortably together. "Hey, this is new for me too." The wolf was content, happy and finally Gabriel wasn't dreading the rest of his heat.

"But I think it'll be better next time. A little calmer. Always starts out frantic before things even out a little."

"It also won't matter as much next time if it doesn't take long in between," he noted, stroking Gabriel's stomach again. "So, it's always been like that for you?"

Gabriel chewed at his lower lip for a moment, breathing in the reassuring scent of his mate. Heat was difficult for unmated Omegas, and being forced to deal with it alone was worse, craving contact when none was to be had. It was more than the mating, it was needing touch, needing to be near another wolf and he’d always been isolated. He reminded himself firmly that was his past before answering. “For the most part. I was usually locked downstairs to deal with it on my own. Michael had the bright idea of bringing chains into play when he caught me escaping one year. It was bad enough I was an Omega, but one who wound up knocked up and unmated?” He snorted derisively.

“The first few hours were always a blur, clawing at the door before I had to take care of things myself. Usually by the second day things were easier. I could eat, grab a few hours of sleep here and there."

The hand stroking Gabriel's stomach paused, tension going through Sam's body. "He chained you during your heats?"

His voice had gone dangerously low, very clearly unhappy with the idea. Even though he had talked not long ago about pinning Gabriel down during sex, that was a thing of mutual desire, not of trying to control Gabriel's needs or his desire to mate.
