Had he not been knotted to Gabriel, if this had come out when he was more free to move, it was entirely possible that Sam would have gotten up and gone to challenge Michael right then.
Since he was, though, that meant he was more attuned to the way that Gabriel himself was reacting, which cooled his temper a bit. At least for the time being. There would be time to deal with Michael later, after all.
"I'm so sorry you went through that," he murmured, holding Gabriel close. "Your brothers are idiots and I hate what they put you through, but I'm selfishly glad that you didn't run."
